Johanna "Joni" Lynn (Grove) Dale, RN

Johanna “Joni” Lynn (Grove) Dale, RN, 59, of Crawfordsville, IN, was called home to the Lord Monday September 2nd 2024 at 2:56AM at Franciscan Health Lafayette East in Lafayette, IN surrounded by family and long-time friends. Joni was born to Merle Grove and Rita Towell on September 17, 1964 in Joliet, Illinois.

 Joni always made it a point to let those around her know she was put on this earth by God for two things; to be a mother and a nurse. Her 33-year career as a nurse, Joni worked a wide array of specialties including ER, intensive care, home care, and dialysis. During this time, she notably never lost a patient under her care. Autoimmune diseases ultimately led to an early retirement.

 As a mother, Joni was hyperactive in her children’s lives, whether it be standing as the president of the PTA to being the person her children could always count on into adulthood and supporting their passions. Her final years, she found a new passion for cooking and would regularly cook dinner for her children and host dinners for them at her home.

 Outside of her children and nursing, Joni was well known for her ability to catch up with family and friends via phone with a Mt. Dew in hand. She always looked forward to celebrating her birthday at her favorite restaurant, Mi Rancho Bravo.

 Joni is survived by her three sons, Nathan (Breanne) Dale of Romney, IN, Caleb Dale of Thomasville, NC, and Casey Dale of Crawfordsville, IN. Two siblings, Tina Vaughn of Westville, IL and Kevin (Tracy) Grove of Apex, NC. A niece Jenna (Johnathon) Engelmann, and two nephews Luke Vaughn and Connor Grove. Two great-nephews Evan Reeves and Dyllan Engelmann. Her uncles Bob, Bill, and Roger Towell. Eight granddogs Wrangler, Brya, Whittaker, Wakely, Misiah, Mira, Mufasa, and Maze.

 Joni is preceded in death by her parents, her aunts and an uncle, grandparents, 3 angel grandchildren, and 2 granddogs (Bella and Wesson).

 The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Barbi Leaman, Kristi Todd, Lori and Rudy Linares, and Kathleen Keller.

 In honoring her wishes, cremation services were chosen and a celebration of life is to be had at a later date.

 In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the National Adrenal Diseases Foundation on Joni’s behalf.
